Those figures show a worrying trend of the figures increasing as time goes by. I wonder where could the additional cars be coming from??

I'm not sure where the numbers come from but a simple explanation is that someone is doing research and finding and documenting cars. My car was "unknown" for about 10 years after it left UK and then came into my possession 10 years later. I care about these things, the previous owner didn't. Of course if you subscribe to the "of the 3000 produced, there are only 6000 left" school of thought, you'd probably have a different take on this............

Type in Cortina GT and there's far fewer left........

So scarcity doesn't equate to value.

It comes directly from the DVLA computers. If you follow the links from http://howmanyleft.co.uk/ you can view the raw data.

Or if you want go straight to the DVLA stats page http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/da ... licensing/
